Indian Spacetech Startup Ulook Raises Rs 19 Crore to Develop Autonomous Satellite Swarms for RF-Based Earth Monitoring

Ulook

The Indian space technology sector has witnessed another significant milestone as Ulook, an emerging spacetech venture, successfully secured Rs 19 crore in its latest funding round. The investment was co led by prominent venture capital firms GrowX Ventures and InfoEdge Ventures, marking a vote of confidence in the startup’s innovative approach to satellite based Earth observation.

Pioneering Radio Frequency Sensing Technology

Ulook distinguishes itself through its development of autonomous satellite swarms equipped with radio frequency sensing capabilities. Unlike conventional satellites that rely on optical imaging systems, Ulook’s technology captures radio frequency patterns emitted by various terrestrial sources. This approach enables the detection and tracking of signals from maritime vessels, aircraft, and ground based equipment, even in challenging environmental conditions where traditional observation methods face limitations.

The RF snapshot methodology represents a paradigm shift in satellite surveillance, offering enhanced monitoring capabilities in scenarios characterized by poor visibility or inadequate conventional tracking infrastructure. This technological differentiation positions Ulook to address critical gaps in current Earth observation systems.

Leadership and Strategic Vision

The company was established in 2024 by co-founders Siddhesh Naik and Adheesh Boratkar, both of whom bring substantial expertise in low-Earth orbit satellite systems, unmanned aerial vehicle swarm technologies, and high altitude pseudo satellite development. Their combined experience forms the technical foundation for Ulook’s ambitious objectives.

CEO Siddhesh Naik emphasized the practical applications of their technology, particularly in maritime domain awareness. The system demonstrates significant potential for identifying shadow fleets operating in the Indian Ocean region by detecting concealed radio markers, thereby enabling precise tracking of vessel movements and operational patterns.

Capital Deployment Strategy

The newly acquired funds will be strategically allocated toward establishing Ulook’s first prototype manufacturing facility in North Bangalore. Co-founder Adheesh Boratkar stressed the company’s commitment to comprehensive ground testing and validation procedures prior to launch operations. This methodical approach reflects an industry wide recognition of the critical importance of rigorous pre launch verification processes.

As India’s space technology ecosystem continues its expansion, Ulook’s innovative radio frequency sensing platform represents a meaningful contribution to sovereign space capabilities and global competitiveness in advanced satellite technologies.
