Ashneer Grover, the former MD and co-founder of BharatPe, has launched a new fintech platform aimed at reshaping how employees access credit. Announced via LinkedIn on Thursday, Fund My Staff allows employers to act as guarantors for staff loans, targeting workers with limited or no credit history who might otherwise struggle to secure financing. The platform is the latest offering from Third Unicorn, the Delhi based venture Grover co-founded with Aseem Ghavri.
How Fund My Staff Works
Fund My Staff positions itself differently from typical earned wage access or personal loan apps. Rather than employers disbursing funds directly, they serve solely as guarantors—employees receive the loan amount and repay it through monthly EMIs. This structure allows companies to support their workforce financially without taking on direct payment obligations.
The process works in two directions. Employers can onboard staff, set loan limits, and approve requests directly. Alternatively, employees can initiate a loan request, which then goes to their employer for approval before disbursement. Once approved, funds move to the employee, and repayment follows a standard EMI schedule.
On the regulatory side, Fund My Staff operates as a Lending Service Provider (LSP), in line with the Reserve Bank of India’s digital lending guidelines. Actual loan origination and sanctioning rest with RBI-registered NBFCs—currently, the platform lists Ash Grove Capital Private Limited as its lending partner. This compliance structure places accountability with a regulated financial entity, not the platform itself.
Bridging the Credit Access Gap
Employees with limited or no credit history often face barriers to accessing formal credit. Fund My Staff addresses this by using the employer’s guarantee as the qualifying mechanism, rather than relying solely on the employee’s individual credit profile.
This launch follows ZeroPe, Third Unicorn’s medical expense financing app introduced in 2024, and comes after the shutdown of fantasy cricket platform CrickPe in February last year, marking a clearer focus on financial services within the venture’s portfolio.
Road Ahead for the Platform
Fund My Staff’s growth will depend on employer adoption and how the platform and its NBFC partner manage guarantor backed lending at scale.
