Wipro Announces $375 Million Deal to Acquire Samsung Owned Harman Digital Solutions Division

Wipro

India’s leading technology services company Wipro has announced a significant strategic acquisition, agreeing to purchase Harman’s Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) unit for $375 million. This major transaction represents a substantial expansion of Wipro’s engineering research and development capabilities on a global scale.

Transaction Details and Timeline

The acquisition encompasses Harman’s digital transformation solutions unit, with Harman itself being a Samsung subsidiary. The deal is structured to close by December 31, 2025, following completion of regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions. In 2024, the DTS unit generated impressive revenue of $314 million, with services accounting for 85% of total revenue and products comprising the remaining 15%.

Global Workforce Integration

A cornerstone of this acquisition involves the integration of over 5,600 specialized engineering professionals currently employed by Harman’s DTS unit. These employees are strategically distributed across key markets in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, providing Wipro with enhanced global reach and localized expertise in critical technology markets.

Strategic Business Impact

Wipro CEO Srini Pallia highlighted the transformative potential of this acquisition, emphasizing how Harman’s specialized engineering expertise will complement Wipro’s existing consulting led, AI powered capabilities. The combined organization aims to deliver enhanced value to clients across multiple high growth sectors, including hi tech, consumer goods, industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and aerospace industries.

The acquisition strengthens Wipro’s software defined, platform centric approach while positioning the company to manage larger, more complex transformation programs. Managing Partner and Global Head of Engineering Srikumar Rao noted that this strategic move empowers Wipro to expand its service offerings in digital engineering and connected product development.

Partnership Framework

Beyond the acquisition, Wipro will establish a multi year strategic partnership agreement with both Harman and Samsung. This collaboration framework is designed to create new opportunities for joint growth initiatives and innovative transformation solutions, ensuring continued synergies between the organizations.

For Harman, the divestiture enables sharper focus on core automotive electronics and audio innovation businesses, where Chief Strategy Officer Carolin Reichert identified significant future growth opportunities.
