Digital gold investment platform Gullak has secured $7.5 million in Series A funding, reinforcing continued investor confidence in India’s evolving fintech landscape. The investment, spearheaded by Chiratae Ventures, marks a pivotal moment for the Bengaluru based startup as it positions itself to capitalize on India’s substantial gold investment market.
Strategic Investment Partnership
The funding round demonstrated strong investor confidence with participation from White Venture Capital and Samved Ventures, alongside renewed commitments from existing backers including Y Combinator, GMO Fintech Fund, and Rebel Fund. This diverse investor base reflects the platform’s appeal across different investment philosophies and geographic markets.
Founded in January 2022 by entrepreneurs Dilip Jain, Naimisha Rao, and Manthan Shah, Gullak has established itself as an innovative bridge between traditional gold investment preferences and contemporary digital financial services. The platform enables users to commence gold investments with minimal daily contributions of ₹100, democratizing access to precious metal investments for a broader demographic.
Market Position and Growth Strategy
Gullak has established strategic partnerships with 15+ jewellery chains operating across more than 5,000 retail outlets nationwide. These partnerships include industry leaders such as Tanishq, Kalyan Jewellers, Malabar Gold, and Joyalukkas, providing users with extensive redemption options for their digital gold holdings.
The fresh capital injection will primarily support two strategic initiatives: strengthening existing jeweller partnerships through collaborative solution development and expanding market presence into tier-2 and tier-3 cities. This expansion strategy aligns with the broader trend of financial service providers targeting underserved markets beyond metropolitan areas.
Industry Implications
The investment underscores the potential of digitizing traditional investment categories in India, where gold holds both financial and cultural significance. As digital adoption accelerates across smaller cities, platforms like Gullak are positioned to serve millions of potential users who value gold as an investment vehicle but seek modern, accessible purchasing and storage solutions.
This funding milestone represents more than capital acquisition; it validates the market demand for innovative approaches to traditional investment preferences in India’s evolving financial landscape.
