Reliance Retail Limited Completes Acquisition of Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s Anomaly Haircare, Strengthening Its Global Beauty Portfolio

Reliance Retail Limited has taken a significant step in strengthening its beauty portfolio with the acquisition of Anomaly Haircare, the clean beauty brand founded by global actress and entrepreneur Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Announced on April 30, 2026, the deal grants Reliance Retail full ownership of Anomaly’s trademarks, brand assets, and digital properties — marking a decisive moment in the company’s ambition to lead India’s fast-evolving beauty and personal care market. Notably, this marks Reliance Retail’s first global beauty acquisition.

What is Anomaly Haircare?

Founded in 2021, Anomaly positions itself as a clean, vegan, and high-performance haircare brand at an accessible price point. The brand quickly gained traction in international markets, establishing a credible presence across North America and the United Kingdom. Its focus on transparent ingredients, sustainable practices, and affordable pricing resonated strongly with a new generation of conscious consumers — making it an attractive acquisition target for a retail powerhouse like Reliance.

The Strategic Rationale

For Reliance Retail, this acquisition is far more than a portfolio addition. It represents a carefully considered move to tap into the surging global demand for clean beauty, while simultaneously deepening its foothold in the domestic market. The Indian beauty and personal care market was valued at approximately $23 billion in 2025 and is expected to grow at a 12 percent CAGR, potentially becoming the fourth-largest beauty and personal care market globally by 2030.

By integrating Anomaly into its extensive omnichannel ecosystem — including its dedicated beauty platform, Tira — Reliance is well-positioned to bring the brand to millions of Indian consumers. Tira, launched in 2023, has already grown to 29 locations, reflecting the company’s serious commitment to the beauty segment. India has been identified as a priority market, with dedicated product innovation planned to address specific hair and scalp concerns of Indian consumers, including the effects of humidity, pollution, and diverse scalp conditions.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Creative Director

A particularly noteworthy aspect of this deal is that Priyanka Chopra Jonas will not be stepping away from the brand. She will continue to be involved with Anomaly as Creative Director, overseeing innovation, brand vision, and product development. Her ongoing involvement ensures continuity in the brand’s identity and creative direction, while Reliance provides the scale and distribution muscle to accelerate its growth.

Looking Ahead

As part of Reliance Retail’s global growth strategy, the brand’s presence in North America, the UK, and the Middle East is set to be expanded. Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. runs an integrated omnichannel network of more than 20,000 stores across categories, giving Anomaly an unparalleled distribution platform to reach consumers at scale.

With Isha Ambani steering institutional strategy and Priyanka Chopra Jonas guiding creative vision, Anomaly is now equipped with both the reach and the identity to compete seriously on the global stage. This acquisition signals that Reliance Retail is not merely building a retail network — it is curating a new-age beauty ecosystem with genuine global aspirations.
