India’s pet care industry continues to attract early stage investor attention, with D2C grooming and wellness brand Moe Puppy announcing the close of a ₹2 crore pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by PedalStart, with Zindagi Live Angel Fund and other angel investors also participating in the round.
The capital infusion marks a significant milestone for the startup, which was founded in 2023 by Manish Paul with a focused vision – to offer Indian pet owners access to effective, science backed grooming and wellness solutions that are both easy to use and reliable in formulation.
A Brand Built on Product and Trust
Moe Puppy’s current portfolio includes grooming essentials such as dry shampoo and anti-tick spray, addressing everyday pet care challenges faced by Indian households. Rather than competing purely on price, the brand has positioned itself on the quality and efficacy of its formulations, targeting a consumer base that is increasingly conscious about pet health and hygiene.
The brand’s distribution strategy reflects a well rounded omnichannel approach. Products are available through its own direct to consumer website as well as prominent marketplaces including Amazon, quick commerce platforms such as Blinkit and Zepto, and pet focused retail destinations like Supertails ensuring accessibility across multiple consumer touchpoints.
Strong Early Traction
Despite being a relatively young company, Moe Puppy has demonstrated encouraging commercial momentum. The brand has served over 1 lakh customers and maintains a repeat purchase rate of approximately 30% – a metric that speaks to sustained customer satisfaction and loyalty. Furthermore, the startup recorded 10x growth over the past year, signalling strong product market fit within a competitive and rapidly expanding category.
Road Ahead
The freshly raised funds will be channelled into four key areas: marketing to widen brand awareness, research and development to deepen its product pipeline, supply chain optimisation to improve operational efficiency, and selective hiring across growth, operations, and customer experience functions.
India’s pet care market is undergoing a structural shift, driven by rising pet ownership, growing awareness around animal wellness, and an increasing appetite for premium products. Moe Puppy, with its focused positioning and proven early metrics, appears well placed to carve out a meaningful share of this evolving market as it enters its next phase of growth.
