Sports for Life (SFL), an innovative multi sport youth development platform, has successfully secured Rs 21.57 crore in its Series A funding round, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey to revolutionize structured sports training for children across India. The investment round was spearheaded by prominent venture capital firms Fireside Ventures and Genesia Ventures, with additional support from Roots Ventures, TDV Partners, and several existing investors who demonstrated continued confidence in the platform’s vision and execution.
Strategic Vision and Market Positioning
Founded by Sourjyendu Medda, who previously co-founded DealShare, alongside Armaan Tandon, Sports for Life has positioned itself at the intersection of sports development and technology. The platform operates comprehensive sports academies and organizes competitive leagues while utilizing advanced artificial intelligence systems to deliver personalized training experiences. This technology driven approach enables the platform to track practice sessions and match performance data, creating customized learning pathways and detailed progress dashboards for young athletes.
The company’s innovative model addresses a critical gap in India’s youth sports ecosystem by providing structured, high quality training programs that prioritize consistency, safety, and measurable progress. This approach has resonated strongly with parents seeking reliable, professional sports education for their children.
Impressive Growth Trajectory
Sports for Life has demonstrated remarkable momentum over the past year, tripling its revenue while expanding its geographic footprint beyond Mumbai to include Pune. The platform currently engages over 1,500 children through its regular coaching programs, with an additional 2,000 participants in various tournaments. The second season of its football league alone attracted participation from more than 100 teams, showcasing the strong demand for organized youth sports competitions.
The company has also strengthened its coaching capabilities by bringing on board experienced mentors, including Heimir Hallgrímsson, the manager of the Republic of Ireland men’s national football team, along with seasoned coaches Yadwinder Singh, Shyam Sundar, and Deep Rambhiya.
Ambitious Expansion Plans
The fresh capital injection will fuel Sports for Life’s aggressive expansion strategy across multiple dimensions. Geographically, the company plans to establish presence in Bengaluru and the National Capital Region within the coming year. The platform aims to dramatically scale its reach by onboarding 10,000 additional children into its academy programs and engaging 20,000 more participants in competitive tournaments.
Furthermore, SFL intends to diversify its sports offerings significantly, expanding from seven disciplines to twelve, with cricket set to be introduced soon. The company will also invest in upgrading its technology infrastructure, developing computer vision enabled livestreaming capabilities, automatic highlight generation, comprehensive match analytics, and enhanced communication tools for seamless interaction between parents and coaches.
Industry Perspectives
