Toing offers meals primarily priced between ₹100 and ₹150, with items starting from as low as ₹49, making it accessible to consumers with limited disposable income. The platform maintains competitive pricing structures with low delivery charges and no surge fees during peak hours.

Pune was strategically selected as the launch city because it is an education hub and a less explored market for food delivery compared to Bengaluru, which is considered a saturated market. This positioning allows Swiggy to tap into Pune’s large student population and youthful demographic while testing market viability in a controlled environment.

Unlike Swiggy’s primary application, Toing emphasizes simplified navigation and curated restaurant selections. The platform focuses on everyday meal options rather than premium dining experiences, offering diverse menu categories including regional cuisines, fast food, and desserts. This approach differentiates it from the comprehensive super app model while addressing specific consumer needs.

Strategic Expansion Through Specialized Apps

The launch represents Swiggy’s broader strategy of developing specialized applications for distinct market segments. This follows the company’s recent introduction of various standalone apps including Instamart for quick commerce, Pyng for services, and Snacc for rapid delivery. The timing is particularly significant as Swiggy’s main application has seen platform fees rise dramatically from ₹2 in April 2023 to ₹15 per order by September 2025 (a 600% increase), positioning Toing as an alternative for cost sensitive users.
