In a significant development for India’s fashion D2C industry, MyDesignation – a Kochi founded streetwear brand with a strong cultural identity has successfully closed a Rs 40 crore Series A funding round. The investment was led by RPSG Capital Ventures, with continued backing from existing investors Veltis Capital, Multiply Ventures, and Dominor Investments. The renewed participation from prior investors signals robust confidence in the brand’s long term business model and strategic vision.
About MyDesignation
Established in 2020 by husband-wife duo Swaroop Krishnan and Gopika B Raj, MyDesignation was conceived as a brand that merges contemporary streetwear aesthetics with culturally rooted storytelling. Operating on a digital first model, the brand sells exclusively through its own website, avoiding third party marketplaces entirely. This deliberate choice grants the company complete ownership over its pricing strategy, brand narrative, and customer relationships – a rarity in the highly competitive Indian fashion landscape. Today, the brand operates Exclusive Brand Outlets across Bangalore, Kochi, Trivandrum, and Calicut, having grown steadily from its Kerala origins to establish a meaningful retail footprint in key Indian cities.

Strategic Deployment of Capital
The Series A proceeds are earmarked for three core priorities: expanding the offline retail network through additional company owned outlets, onboarding senior leadership talent to strengthen operational capabilities, and diversifying into new product categories. Co-Founder Swaroop Krishnan stated that this round enables the brand to accelerate its omnichannel strategy while maintaining the disciplined and sustainable growth framework it has built over the past five years.
Investor Perspective and Design Philosophy
RPSG Capital Ventures highlighted the brand’s sharp design sensibility and authentic consumer engagement as primary differentiators in a crowded market. Chief Creative Officer Gopika B Raj affirmed that originality remains non negotiable at every stage of product development – each piece undergoes rigorous research to ensure it is culturally informed, distinctive, and expressive, qualities that have helped build a deeply loyal consumer community.
Outlook
With this funding in place, MyDesignation is well positioned to evolve from a digitally native challenger brand into a formidable omnichannel fashion label. As Indian consumers increasingly gravitate toward brands with authentic identities and original design, MyDesignation’s approach places it at a clear advantage in the evolving D2C landscape.
