Meta Acquires AI Agents Startup Manus in a $2 Billion Deal

meta

AI startup Manus has officially announced that it is joining Meta, marking a major milestone for its general purpose AI agents. The Singapore based company, known for building an autonomous agent designed to help users with research, automation and complex task execution, says this change validates its work and opens a new chapter for its technology and users. Manus has processed more than 147 trillion tokens and powered over 80 million virtual computers since launch earlier in 2025. The team believes this move will help bring its autonomous agent to a broader audience while improving its reliability and real world usefulness.

Continuity for Users and Product Growth

Manus says the transition will not disrupt services for existing customers. The company will continue to sell and operate its subscription product through its app and website while remaining headquartered in Singapore. Manus CEO Xiao Hong emphasised that joining Meta gives the team a stronger and more sustainable foundation without changing how the product works or how decisions are made. The aim is to expand beyond its current customer base to reach millions of businesses and billions of users across Meta’s platforms over time.

What This Means for the AI Landscape

Meta’s acquisition of Manus aligns with its broader strategy to expand in artificial intelligence and integrate more powerful agent technology across its products. Manus’s experience building general AI agents that can carry out multi step tasks positions it as a valuable addition to Meta’s AI ecosystem, which includes tools for consumers and businesses. For the wider tech and marketing audience, this development signals a growing emphasis on AI that can do work autonomously and at scale.

The combined reach of Meta and Manus could accelerate the adoption of AI agents in everyday applications and redefine how businesses leverage artificial intelligence to improve productivity and automation.
