Mayank Bidawatka, co-founder of the discontinued Indian microblogging service Koo, has introduced PicSee, an artificial intelligence powered photograph sharing application developed through his consumer technology enterprise, Billion Hearts. The platform represents a strategic departure from public social networking toward private, automated digital content exchange.
Addressing Core Sharing Challenges
The application addresses a fundamental problem in digital photography: the one sided nature of photograph sharing. With approximately 5 billion smartphone users worldwide actively taking photos, the vast majority of captured images remain stored on individual devices without being shared. Bidawatka’s research indicates this reluctance stems from a lack of reciprocal value, where individuals see little incentive to share photographs when they receive nothing in return.
Technical Architecture and Privacy Infrastructure
PicSee utilizes advanced facial recognition technology integrated with artificial intelligence algorithms to facilitate automated bilateral photograph exchange. Upon mutual authorization between users, the system conducts comprehensive gallery scans, identifies relevant images containing specified individuals, and initiates sharing protocols. This mechanism eliminates manual selection and transmission processes traditionally associated with photograph distribution.
The platform’s security framework emphasizes data sovereignty and privacy protection. Photographs maintain residence on users’ personal devices throughout the process, with no storage occurring on external servers. Inter device transfers employ encryption methodologies to ensure content protection against unauthorized interception or access.
Growth Metrics and Geographic Expansion
Following its soft launch in July 2025 with an initial cohort of 25 users, the platform has experienced exponential expansion, achieving 75 fold growth within three months through organic, invitation based acquisition. The platform has processed over 150,000 photograph exchanges, with India constituting the primary user demographic.
Operational reach now extends across 27 countries, encompassing significant markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and France. Cross platform compatibility ensures accessibility through both Android and iOS ecosystems.
Revenue Model Considerations
The application currently operates on a zero cost basis for end users. However, organizational plans indicate potential transition toward subscription based monetization incorporating premium feature sets. This strategic approach aligns with established consumer technology deployment patterns prioritizing user base development preceding revenue generation initiatives.
