Chennai based deep tech startup VyomIC has successfully raised $1.6 million in pre seed funding, highlighting the growing investor confidence in India’s emerging space technology ecosystem. The round was led by Speciale Invest, with notable participation from BYT Capital and DeVC, marking another milestone for indigenous space innovation.
Founded by IIT Madras alumni Lokesh Kabdal, Vibhor Jain, and Anurag Patil, VyomIC represents a ambitious vision to establish India’s first private global satellite constellation. The company’s mission extends beyond creating a domestic alternative to GPS, focusing instead on developing next generation navigation technology engineered for enhanced security and precision.
Revolutionary LEO-Based Navigation Technology
The startup’s core technology centers on Low Earth Orbit-based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing services. Unlike traditional medium earth orbit systems such as GPS and GLONASS, VyomIC’s LEO approach promises stronger signal power, faster convergence, and improved indoor navigation capabilities. The company emphasizes developing spoofing proof and jamming resistant signals to address critical vulnerabilities in existing navigation infrastructure.
The funding will support multiple strategic objectives, including advancing their LEO-PNT payload development and facilitating an upcoming space demonstration mission. Additionally, resources will enable team expansion as the company scales its technical capabilities and business operations.
Experienced Leadership and Future Vision
VyomIC’s founding team brings substantial experience from leading Avishkar Hyperloop, India’s prominent student led hyperloop initiative, and managing drone swarm deployments for government applications. These experiences have reinforced their understanding of the growing global demand for independent navigation systems amid increasing security threats and concerns about reliance on foreign controlled platforms.
Speciale Invest’s Managing Partner Vishesh Rajaram emphasized the strategic importance of the investment, noting that resilient navigation systems have become essential in a world increasingly dependent on autonomous systems and time critical infrastructure. This funding represents Speciale Invest’s seventh investment in India’s space sector, further strengthening their deep technology portfolio.
VyomIC’s long term roadmap includes launching a complete constellation capable of providing secure, real time navigation and timing services on a global scale, positioning India as a significant player in the sovereign navigation technology landscape.
