Chakr Innovation

Chakr Innovation has announced the successful close of its $23 million Series C funding, with Iron Pillar as the lead investor, marking a key step for India’s cleantech sector. The Gurugram based startup, which has garnered backing from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), announced that existing investors including SBI Cap Ventures, ONGC, Indian Angel Network (IAN), and Inflexor participated in this latest financing round.

Company Background and Market Impact

Founded in 2016 by IIT Delhi graduates Kushagra Srivastava, Arpit Dhupar, Bharti Singhla, and Prateek Sachan, Chakr Innovation has established itself as a pioneer in materials science driven environmental solutions. The company’s flagship product, Chakr Shield, represents a breakthrough in emission control technology as India’s first certified retrofit device specifically designed for diesel generators. This innovative system achieves remarkable results by reducing particulate emissions by more than 80 percent.

The startup’s market presence demonstrates substantial commercial success, with over 5,000 installations across 2,000 customers throughout its operational history. According to company data, these deployments have contributed to reducing approximately 2.5 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions, highlighting the measurable environmental impact of their technology.

Strategic Growth Plans and Future Outlook

Strategic utilization of the newly acquired capital will focus on several key areas. Manufacturing capacity expansion represents a primary objective, enabling the company to meet growing demand for their emission control solutions. International market penetration constitutes another significant priority, as Chakr Innovation seeks to establish its presence in global cleantech markets. Supply chain strengthening and research and development investments will also receive substantial funding allocation.

Beyond emission control technology, Chakr Innovation is advancing indigenous Aluminium Air battery development, positioning this technology as a viable alternative to conventional lithium ion solutions. The company’s comprehensive portfolio includes DeNOx systems, diesel generator remote monitoring IoT solutions, and Metal Air batteries, demonstrating their commitment to comprehensive environmental technology solutions.

This funding milestone represents more than financial achievement; it validates India’s capacity to develop world class cleantech innovations. As environmental regulations tighten globally and sustainability becomes increasingly critical, Chakr Innovation’s technological solutions and market expansion plans position the company to capitalize on growing demand for effective emission reduction technologies.
