Omnia has taken a strategic leap in spatial computing with its acquisition of SpotKwik, gaining access to its research and product innovations. This move strengthens Omnia’s role in the AR and XR space, where it already provides spatial experiences for major brands like Tesla and AOI. Functioning as a marketplace, Omnia connects AR creators, enterprises, and brands.
SpotKwik started in 2020 as a B2C social commerce platform, allowing influencers to tag products in their posts using AR technology. This approach attracted partnerships with Amazon and Meesho, scaling the platform significantly. At its peak, it had thousands of influencers and processed hundreds of daily orders. However, SpotKwik later pivoted to a B2B model, collaborating with brands like Click2Collab and Framekart to create AR-driven retail and marketing solutions.
Before Omnia’s acquisition, SpotKwik had engaged in discussions with Karan Johar’s Tyaani Jewellers, which aimed to become India’s first spatial jewelry showroom. However, the deal did not go through due to unforeseen circumstances.
Mithun Adith, SpotKwik’s co-founder and CEO, stressed the company’s vision of moving beyond mobile-based AR into spatial computing. Meanwhile, Omnia’s CEO, Aldo Petruzzelli, described the acquisition as a crucial step toward making web-based AR applications seamlessly transition into spatial computing, simplifying adoption for developers.
SpotKwik’s team will continue working under Omnia, focusing on developing immersive digital experiences. Additionally, Adith hinted at launching a new venture by early 2025, crediting his journey to the unwavering support of his early backers.
